On the eve of the National Day of Bulgaria - Third of March, Rotary Club - Gabrovo, Gabrovo Municipality and Park-Museum "Shipka - Buzludzha" organize a public meeting discussion on "Memory of the Freedom Monument" with prof. Vera Boneva and Dr. Chavdar Angelov. It will take place on 28 February at 17:30 in the Ritual Hall of Gabrovo Municipality.
The occasion for the chosen theme is the 90th anniversary of the official opening of the Freedom Monument, which took place on 26 August 1934. Recalling everything about the Monument - a sacred place, from the idea of its construction to the present day, as well as little known facts about its history, we will make a short historical walk. We'll learn about different aspects of our daily lives related to the iconic monument, such as coins, stamps, fountain-shaped envelopes, and more. We will also find out how it is linked to the 1980 Olympic Games.
During the meeting the participants will be able to see the result of the large-scale project of the director Plamen Miryanov, who for more than three years, together with his team, has been preparing a video dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the writing of the ode "The Soldiers of Shipka".
