"We draw women's strength and courage" - the event of the Youth Center - Gabrovo in support of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women will be held for the second year in a row in the "Hristo Tsokev" art gallery. This year's program is even richer and, in addition to the artistic challenge of depicting the female soul with a brush and paints, it also includes a psychological lecture and self-defense training for women.
The aim of the young people is to raise awareness of the subject, support victims of violence and encourage the community to be more involved and active in the search for solutions to eliminate this social problem.
The event starts at 14:00 and begins with a lecture on "Narcissistic behavior - how to recognize it before becoming a victim?". It will be led by the psychotherapist Gabriela Gateva, with whom young people will be able to talk about how to recognize and avoid relationships in which the partner has an unhealthy attitude - seeks to control, disrespects and humiliates his partner, and hurts her emotionally and physically.
At 3:30 p.m., the "Self-Defense for Women" training begins. In it, the licensed international instructor, Stefan Kupichkov, will show the young ladies a few simple movements to protect themselves if they happen to be attacked on the street. They are based on the Krav Maga style and the Korean martial art of Taekwondo and aim for the ladies to remain calm and confident, exploiting the opponent's weak points even when they are physically weaker.
At 4:15 p.m., the creative workshop "Painting female strength and courage" begins. The drawing materials are provided by the Youth Center, and the aim is to collect the works again in an exhibition that will travel around institutions and schools, where it will both be an occasion to put the topic on the agenda, and show the power of art and the talent of the young people of Gabrovo.
During the event, the Art Gallery will have a separate and special information corner - a library. There, visitors will be able to familiarize themselves with various informational materials on the subject - violence helplines, brochures of various associations and foundations, materials aimed at young people, on topics such as sexual maturation and healthy relationships.
