UPSHIFT - Social Innovation and Skills Program – how young people can be a force for positive change.
UPSHIFT is a global UNICEF initiative that equips young people with 21st century skills to address societal challenges through innovation and entrepreneurship. Already active in over 50 countries, the UPSHIFT program empowers young people aged 10-24 to be leaders of social change and active citizens in their communities.
UPSHIFT combines accelerated learning and practical activities through a person-centered approach based on non-formal learning, education, experiential learning and entrepreneurial skills. The 20-25 hour modular training is delivered in various formats – from face-to-face workshops to blended learning, including:
- Workshops and mentoring
- Teamwork and entrepreneurial challenges
- Seed funding for the best ideas
Through these elements, the program promotes empathy, critical thinking, creativity, resilience, and leadership skills, while building new friendships and meaningful connections.
Who can participate?
UPSHIFT is aimed at young people aged 14-19 who want to develop innovative solutions to social problems in their community. The most promising ideas will receive additional mentoring support and funding to implement the projects within three months.
