The petition appeals for a review of the law on value added tax, art. 66a, in which to add menstrual products for women and girls so that the VAT on them is 9%, not 20%.Menstruation is part of the female anatomy, not something we choose to happen or not, unlike visiting a hotel and restaurant, which for the past four years has been taxed at 9%.
The presentation of the book "Menstruation from A to Z" will be accompanied by a lecture on women's health and nature conservation.
Interesting fact:
Did you know that the average woman uses about 11,000 disposable menstrual products throughout her reproductive years?
Each of them decomposes in about 400-800 years, and if we stack them on top of each other, we will get a structure with a height of 1.6 km - as much as 5 Eiffel Towers!
Who is ,,Menstruation A to Z for"?
It is suitable for both teenagers and their parents.
“I wrote the book guided by my personal story of struggling with the diagnosis of endometriosis, which marked my teenage years. I promised myself that the pain I felt would not be in vain and that I would find answers to all the questions I asked myself as a child with dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation)," the author says.
Vera Markova is a citizen of the world - she graduated from a university in Great Britain, works in Belgium, India, Kenya. All countries where women's health is a priority. Menstrual hygiene is discussed calmly and many quality measures are in place.
The author's international experience makes her think about why Bulgaria continues to shroud menstruation in mystery and what this leads to.
Vera decided to contribute to menstrual education in the country by collecting useful information about appropriate foods and sports activities during the different phases of the menstrual cycle, the meaning of the colors of the menstrual flow, stories about celebrating the first period. Follows the development of various menstrual products and understands how they affect women's health, finances and nature. It shares both the suffering of women who are affected by menstrual poverty and the beneficial measures that thousands of activists around the world are fighting for such as reducing VAT on menstrual products and adopting a plan to provide free menstrual products to girls and women in need.
The book "Menstruation from A to Z" is an entirely Bulgarian product, as its font is the first in Cyrillic, created especially for people with dyslexia by Kristina Kostova. The foil in which each book arrives packaged is fully recyclable and compostable by Lam'on brand.
