13 June World Outdoor Knitting Day

On June 11 we had an open workshop, in the park opposite the Katyusha block in the Mladost neighbourhood, on crochet, on the occasion of the World Day of Outdoor Knitting - June 13! The workshop was also dedicated to the European Year of Skills.

It was interesting for us to learn that for the first time World Knitting Day was held publicly in Paris. This activity, which has become a tradition, was created by knitting enthusiast Daniel Landes. Even though a few days earlier, we set up a crochet workshop in the fresh air of the park together with master crocheter Daniela Krusteva, it was amazing to recognize this place and give it a youthful spirit. With colourful yarns and bright emotions flowing under the tent of the Gabrovo Youth Center, dexterous hands appeared and knitted their beads with such love and pleasure.

Threads of yarn can connect people of all ages, genders, occupations, in an ancient-contemporary, i.e. eternal way. And so our colourful tent caught the eye of people of all ages.

We encourage you to grab your knitting hooks too! Here are a few reasons:

1. Knitting is relaxing.

2. Acts as a training for the fingers.

3. Lowers blood pressure.

4. Fight depression.

5. Makes people more social.
