We invite you to participate in XVIII International Art Competition "The Garden of Beauty, Kindness and Joy", organised by the Mayor of Nowy Sącz, Poland, Mr Ludomir Handzel and the Youth Palace of Nowy Sącz.
RULES
The theme for this year's competition is: Colorful Bugs
Colourful insects run our gardens and doing so they are beneficial to the environment. Having bugs in the world are critical for maintaining ecosystems. Some of them pollinate many of our fruits, flowers and vegetables. They include bees, wasps, ants, flies, butterflies and moths. They visit flowers to feed on nectar and pollen. They transfer pollen in and between flowers of the same species which is essential to seed and fruit production for plants. Without them, we would not have the produce we enjoy and rely on.
We encourage young artists to portray colourful garden bugs and highlight their importance.
Age requirement
This juried art competition is open to children and youth aged 5 - 18..
Medium and format
1. The work can be expressed in any still medium: painting, drawing, collage, etc.
2. A chosen medium ought to be flat. The maximum format for an entry is 50 × 70 cm.
3. Each contestant can send one or a few pieces of art and must be the creator of the art submitted to the competition. It must not be a copy of anyone else's copyrighted material.
Judging criteria:
• Does the artwork fit the theme of the competition?
• Is there a creative interpretation of the theme? Is the originality of the work interesting?
The judges will be looking for works of art which present the young artist's unique interpretation of the theme and how colours define their works.
The judges' decision is final.
Submission deadlines
All artworks must be submitted until April 5, 2024.
No artworks will be accepted past the posted deadline.
Artist notification
Winners will be notified by e-mail and on our website on April 16, 2024.
The certificates and prizes will be presented at the gallery opening on April 22, 2024 at the Youth Palace.
All winning entries will be displayed on our website in the “Multimedia Gallery”.
Mail-in entries must be accompanied by one original Entry Form per artist. Each artwork must be clearly marked with the artist's name, age and the contact on a label stuck on the back. Only properly marked works, together with fully completed Entry Forms will be accepted. Works should be placed in an unsealed plastic sleeve and attached to the Entry Form.
Terms
1. By entering this competition you are granting us a license to reproduce images of your artwork on our website and in our newsletters, and in the marketing of the art competition to the general public.
2. Artworks will not be used for any other purpose than that which is stated here.
3. The works are not returned.
