The national competition "Me for my municipality: one problem - one solution" is organized by the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria (www.namrb.org ).
The competition is organized on the occasion of October 12 - the Day of the Bulgarian Municipality and Local Self-Government.
The aim of the contest is to encourage the active involvement of young people in public life at the local level, to give them the opportunity to gain real practical experience in implementing the mechanisms of local self-government, to familiarize them with the challenges and difficulties that municipal officials overcome in the course of their work .
The competition is taking place with the active cooperation of the municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria on a voluntary basis. They can become part of the information campaign for the competition, stimulate young people in the municipality to participate actively, undertake a commitment to implement a ranked proposal, in case it is received by a resident of the relevant municipality, participate with their contribution to enriching the prize fund.
CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPATION
Young people up to the age of 29, inclusive /according to §1, item 1 of the Youth Act/, who are pupils, students or working, have the right to participate in the competition.
Participation in the competition is individual or in a team.
Participation in the contest is voluntary.
The participants in the competition should send an exposition of their project idea /with text, video, presentation, etc./ in accordance with the conditions of the competition, in electronic format by e-mail of the NSORB, to the address: konkurs@namrb.org
Proposals for participation in the competition are submitted in Bulgarian.
Deadline for receipt of proposals: July 30, 2023.
REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS:
- to demonstrate an ability to synthesize the problem;
- to convincingly present the need to solve the problem;
- to have shown interest, does a similar problem exist elsewhere in the country and abroad;
- that the proposed idea is practically applicable;
- that the proposed solution is compatible with the powers of the local authority;
- the proposed decision has an effect on the citizens or leads to an improvement of the living environment in the settlement;
- to create conditions for attracting more interested persons in implementing the idea;
- to enable the solution to be multiplied.

CONDUCT OF THE COMPETITION
The competition is held in two stages.
All received proposals for participation will be considered by a 5-member jury.
Applicants whose proposals relate to real problems of public impact and provide realistic ideas for their solution will receive mentoring support from experts from the NSORB team and members of the Standing Committees of the Association in the relevant field to develop an action plan in implementation of the project an idea.
The project ideas and the plan for their implementation will be publicly presented to the members of the Board of Directors of NSORB.
CLASSIFICATION
In the National Youth Competition "Me for my municipality: one problem - one solution" the following prizes will be awarded:
- First prize – BGN 2,000.
- Second prize – BGN 1,500.
- Third prize – BGN 1,000.
- Incentive prize – BGN 500.
The awards will be presented at a special ceremony on October 12, 2023 - the Day of the Bulgarian Municipality and Local Self-Government.
All 4 awarded projects will be presented during the inaugural forum of the local government for the term 2023-2027, organized by the NSORB on 11.12.2023.
They will have the opportunity to be implemented in practice on the territory of the respective municipality.
The winner of the competition will be invited to be one of the speakers at the inaugural forum of the newly elected mayors and chairmen of municipal councils on 11.12.2023.
