About the Christo and Jean-Claude Center
The idea of creating a Center for Contemporary Art in Gabrovo, which bears the name of the most famous Bulgarian artist, Hristo Javashev - Christo and his partner in life and in the realization of creative projects, Jean-Claude, was born almost 30 years ago .
It's been a long road. In 2013, Christo and his two brothers, Anani and Stefan Yavashevi, signed an agreement with the Municipality of Gabrovo, in which they agreed to the creation of Christo and Jean-Claude Center in our city.
In the last few years, active work has been done on analyzing the opportunities, needs, challenges and ideas that stand before the creation of the Center - not only as a gallery, but as a living organism that provides opportunities for learning, experimentation and collaboration based on the complex approach , used by Christo and Jean-Claude in the realization of their large-scale projects.
However, the journey of the Christo and Jean-Claude Center is just beginning, and the upcoming event will be an informal start to kick off the complex processes and steps that lie ahead.
And we need all the support we can get! Register as a volunteer at the Form!
During the event, the most diverse cultural events will be organized (from exhibitions about the history of Christo and his family in Gabrovo, about the projects of the artistic couple, art installations, children's workshops, etc. to DJ parties). The events are happening between 10:00 and 00:00 on October 6 and 7 and from 10:00 to 18:00 on October 8, with volunteers divided into groups and "shifts", with specific commitments in specific spaces and of course, will also be able to visit the DJ parties on Friday and Saturday nights.
We need at least 30 responsible and alert young people to help us with:
- Welcoming, orienting and guiding guests at open days;
- Presentation of the most important theses in the concept of the Center to the particularly curious guests;
- Presentation and reminder of compliance with safety rules, order and security measures;
- Assistance in emergency situations under the supervision of a representative of the organizers;
- If desired - to actively participate in the preparation, cleaning, arrangement of the halls and any other organizational tasks before the start of the event.
The Museum of Humor and Satire will ensure that volunteers have the calmness and safety, necessary support and guidance during their volunteer mission at the Center. Also, they will receive a full briefing and a clear assignment of tasks from a volunteer coordinator who will be available for questions and help with any situations that arise.
The Museum of Humor and Satire will issue a certificate to all participating volunteers, which can be presented to universities and employers (if necessary, the certificate can be issued in English).
There will be special events and prizes for the volunteers.
