The last days in which you can sign up to participate in the creative workshops during the Youth Events Against the Current festival are running out.
It will be held from August 25 to 27 in the bed of the Yantra River, in the area of the gondola with flowers in the direction of the House of Humor and Satire, and the program is saturated with various events - concerts, cinema, debates, bazaar, art workshops.
We highlight some of the events that require advance time planning and registration. Registration for everyone is done by email yc@gabrovo.bg , stating your name, age, contact number and where you want to participate.
Workshop for giant luminous figures with Nikolay Tabakov
Nikolay will gather the group of willing people on August 24 to get to know each other, to explain the technique and the principle of work. What will be the three figures you will make, you decide! Besides they will be used to decorate the event, we will then use them as part of the art installations in the building of the Youth Center - the former summer theater. So crafty people, go ahead and put all your creative energy out there. The working days are the 25th, 26th and 27th, and you will make a schedule in advance who works, when and on which figure. The workshop is suitable for young people from 14 to 29 years old.
Workshop for wool figurines using the felting technique with Yoanna Ivanova
The days for working with wool are August 25 - 4-6 p.m., when a ladybug will be made, August 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. - frog, 4-6 p.m. - bee, August 27 - 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. - rabbit, 4-6 p.m. - bird. Felting is a traditional Bulgarian craft that uses the property of wool to be felted by washing and without special machines. It is worked with needles, and you will be able to take the finished figurine. The workshop is suitable for youth over 12 years old.
Glass engraving workshop with Svetoslav Tsviatkov
Something interesting and unusual that we don't do often. Glass will be engraved on August 26 and 27 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. You can also take the finished product home and use it as a decoration, coaster and whatever else your imagination suggests. The workshop is suitable for youth over 12 years old.
Landscape-collage with House of Humor and Satire
On August 25 and 26, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., the House of Satire Humor will present the work of the artistic tandem Christo and Jean-Claude, in whose name an Art Center is being created in the building of the former Technical College of Textiles in Gabrovo. They will introduce you to the values and approaches characteristic of their work, and then you will improvise yourself with materials and techniques close to those used by Christo in his works. The studio is oriented towards mastering the collage art technique, and images of familiar objects and places from Gabrovo will be used as the basis of the collage. In addition to youth, the workshop is also suitable for children.
Photo contest
Volunteers at the youth center challenge you to participate in the photo contest, which gives you the opportunity to be creative in two categories - reportage photography and art photography. You can only enter with photos taken during the festival from August 24 to 26. The winners will be announced on August 27, at the beginning of the program, from the stage of the festival. You can see more about the regulations of the photo contest on the website of the Youth Center - Gabrovo, and young people from 15 to 29 years old can participate in it.
Braids and henna painting
You can come home from the festival with an interesting braid or a beautiful henna drawing on the skin. Lots of favourites, lots of festival activities that both set us apart and show where we've been. They do not require advance booking, but will be open in the afternoons from 4 to 7 p.m.
All workshops and activities are free for festival visitors.
