Nearly 40 drawings are the result of Saturday's day and the event in support of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, organized by the Gabrovo Youth Center. It took place in the Hristo Tsokev Art Gallery under the motto "Drawing women's strength and courage" and the young people in the town, and everyone who is interested in art, drew on the theme, led by two mentors - the artists Eliza Kovacheva-Tsokova and Nevena Ekimova.
After the event, the drawings will continue to support the cause by traveling to Gabrovo institutions and by their presence will give more visibility to what is happening around us - they will support the victims of violence, urge society to become aware of the problem and to look hard for a working solution.
The event was also supported by many organizations working on the issue - Animus Association Foundation, the site Loveguide which provides all kinds of information about love and sexual relationships for teens, Foundation in support of women victims of violence- F. L. Y First Love Yourself which is based in Gabrovo, Center Amalipe , Български фонд за жените / Bulgarian Fund for Women. They provided various materials, books, brochures related to both violence and prevention.
25 November marks the start of 16 days of activism against gender-based violence. They start with the Day against Violence against Women and end on 10 December, Human Rights Day.
Gabrovo Youth Center will support this cause every day with posts on its social networks to remind us of the importance of love, mutual respect and freedom, respect for the right to choose, dissent, work, life...
One in three women has been a victim of some kind of violence, and more than 20 women have been killed since the beginning of the year.
The establishment of a National Council for the Prevention and Protection from Domestic Violence, the creation of a Domestic Violence Sector at the Ministry of Interior, training of people working in this sector, as well as the increase in the number of crisis centers in the country are some of the measures that are coming, announced Prime Minister Acad. Nikolay Denkov in his speech on the occasion of the 25th November.
