"For and against the use of animals for scientific purposes" is the topic of the debate organized by the youth of the Youth Parliament - Gabrovo on April 24, Thursday, at 4:30 p.m. It will be held at the Youth Center - Gabrovo.
Their special guests will be members of the Public Speaking Club at the Youth Center - Stara Zagora. They will join the debate and will also organize several lectures on debating preparation, stage behavior and rhetoric.
The topic of the debate was chosen by the youth as a reaction to the recent case in which a boy and a girl tortured and killed animals, filmed and sold these videos. Society strongly condemned their actions, but it also provoked the youth to think about the animals that laboratories use for medical and cosmetic purposes.
Where is the line? Where do we draw the line between which type of animal is acceptable to use for scientific purposes and which type of animal we become attached to and consider a member of the family? How, if not with scientific experiments on animals, can medicine develop? Should the human or the animal be at the forefront? How do different laws pronounce on animal experiments?
It is also interesting to hear the opinion of the audience, who will be able to participate in the debate and will also take on the role of a member of the jury - they will be able to cast their vote for the team that did better.
