For the third year in a row, the Youth Center - Gabrovo, the Municipality of Gabrovo and the Foundation "The Collective" join forces to create the favorite youth festival "The Rivers of the City - Gabrovo - Youth Events Against the Current".
It will be held from August 23 to 25 in the bed of the Yantra River, next to Avram Gachev Street, in the part of the House of Humor and Satire. The festival includes a rich program of creative workshops, concerts, cinema, bazaar and some serious topics such as youth participation and the European Union, a lecture on creativity, as well as the future plans of the Municipality for investments in riverside spaces - it would be great to hear the vision of young people people for this space.
The "City Rivers" initiative for another year unites many partners in the cause of improving the connection between Gabrovo and its river Yantra. The banks of the Yantra River will be transformed with installations and public art created by several Bulgarian artists, including Alexander Valchev, Dobrin Atanasov, Alexandra Georgieva, Bogomil Ivanov and Iliana Grigorova.
The program this year is concentrated in the hours 16:00 - 22:30.
The official opening is on Friday, at 6 p.m., and immediately after it we will hear the young singer Rusita Boeva - vocalist of the legendary Bulgarian group "Revue" and NINIO & The Groovers with vocals by Ilin Papazyan, who won the hearts of the audience in the seventh season of "The Voice of Bulgaria". Graffiti artists will work on their new work on the retaining wall, which is already being transformed into a gallery of graffiti from all editions of the festival. And under the big tent we will braid, make henna drawings and talk about the EU dialogue on youth issues.
On Saturday we will surprise you with a cyanotype workshop. Cyanotype is an experimental photographic technique increasingly common in contemporary art. An emulsion containing iron salts is applied to the textile. We put a negative or an object on the soaked base, which we expose to the sun for a few minutes. We wash with water and get a blue print.And the footprints will become sails of boats. On Saturday, there is also the "Drawing and painting" workshop. Elderberry lemonade is elderberry lemonade! It is aimed at all young people who think they cannot draw, to be provoked and to prove to them that anyone can create a masterpiece. A great evening awaits us with a band called CoolDen, who already have their absolute fans in Gabrovo, and they will be warmed up by a rising band called Orchestra Zor Major.
Sunday is movie night and a DJ party. The films will be short - from Bulgaria, Germany and Spain. We will see 6 films about love, beauty and travel. DJ Shamy will introduce us to his music, and immediately before them is the lecture on creativity, and the circus art workshop, where all fearless youngsters who want to try something new are invited.
There will be an art bazaar on the lawn throughout the days, as well as craft beer, craft ice cream and other treats to make the day truly special. The young people have also prepared a workshop for braids - you can learn how to braid such trendy boxer braids with kanekalon, as well as henna drawings.
